Lemongrass Oil demands provide opportunities for Cambodian farmers. AKP

Farmers in Chhuk district, Kampot province are growing lemongrass for its oil and exporting it to China and France were demands are strong.

The Associate of KC Farm in Doum Pdao village, Trapeang Phleang commune, Chhuk district, Ou Ratanak, told the National Radio of Cambodia that the farming of lemongrass is a part of modern agro-industrial. The variety of lemongrass that is grown is imported from Malaysia and grown for its oil that will be exported to China and France.

Ratanak added that lemongrass oil has many benefits and when refined has many uses. The refined oil can be used to make medicine, perfume, shampoo, and many other things.

He said that the crops that are only allowed to be exported if grown in accordance with the agriculture standard 4.0 and the processing industry standard 4.0. The crops are grown as a community agricultural processing industry export in accordance with the policy of the FTA163 project opportunity policy.

Ratanak encouraged farmers to shift from family farming to farming for business revenue.
